Sole E35 Elliptical

Highlights:

The Sole E35 elliptical is a customer-favorite due to its heavy 25 lb flywheel, making the ride extra smooth. Specially designed footpedals have a 2 degree inward slope which helps keep your body in neutral alignment. This reduces toe numbness you often get with cheaper crosstrainers.

You can also adjust the footbeds for maximum comfort. The incline ranges from 0 to 30 degrees which adds a great crosstraining element to your workout and the iPod dock adds some fun.

Our Review:

The Sole E35 elliptical is their most popular model - and it's not hard to see why. It's a huge step up from the E25 with a larger console window, heavier flywheel, better warranty and wireless heart rate monitor - for only a slightly higher price.

It also carries some of the best features that Sole trainers are known for - like the 2 degree inward angle to the footpedals. These help to keep your body in neutral alignment while you workout and can reduce the toe numbness that often comes with cheaper machine workouts.

The footpedals are also adjustable - so you can choose the right toe-heel angle that feels best for you, another way to make the workout more comfortable.

The E35 comes with a heavy 25 pound flywheel which helps to make your ride smoother without the jarring and bumps often found on lighter machines. (The basic rule is that the heavier the flywheel, the smoother the ride.)

And if you want a way to further challenge yourself and burn more calories, there is the power incline. Incline changes the slope of your workout and the E35 gives you up to 30 degree incline.

You can also adjust the resistance and incline from the moving arm bars - which is a handy touch that will save you from reaching up to the console and throwing off your stride.

The console itself is much larger than the E25 model with a blue backlit screen. There's also a hookup for your iPod or mp3 player.

Also, although it's a small thing, we also found that the fan on the Sole E35 elliptical was a bit better than other brand models (not too weak, but not blasting in your face either).

Any drawbacks?

The E35 doesn't come with the heavier flywheel and higher incline levels that you get with the E95. But for regular use, it should still be fine.
