Nordic Track Ellipticals

Are They Right For You?

Nordic Track Ellipticals are some of the most popular crosstrainers on the market.

This is probably because they offer some of the best workout technology on the home market (i.e. iPod docks, speakers, web browsers, video workouts, etc).

And unlike some other brands, Nordic Track has managed to keep their prices reasonable.

You can find brand new models starting from $599 and up.

All new Nordictrack models now come iFit LIVE compatible. This feature lets you connect your machine to the Internet using the wireless in your home.

From there you can download new workouts from celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels or track your fitness activity over time. You can even map out new trails to cover using Googlemaps (where you can use Google streetview to watch actual landmarks go by in the console window!)

Another plus to these ellipticals is that they tend to have longer strides and even adjustable strides. Stride length is basically the furthest distance between the pedals.

You want a longer stride so that you fully work your leg muscles and get a more effective calorie-burning workout.

Depending on your height, you'll probably find that certain stride lengths feel more natural for you. So if you get a trainer with multiple strides you can try out each one to find your best fit.

Nordic Track also packs some interesting features in you don't find elsewhere. For example, you can find elliptical trainers that fold up for easy storage.

There are crosstrainers with both incline and decline (incline changes the slope of your elliptical motion and works different muscle groups.)

There's even a crosstrainer (the Elite 15.0) that comes with a built-in web browser. So you can surf the net, read your email or even watch Youtube videos while you workout.

Which elliptical is best for you?

It really depends on your needs, budget and goals. The higher end models are built to be a bit tougher, weightier and with more 'bells and whistles'.

They also give you more in terms of warranty protection as well. However if you only plan on working out occasionally, you'd probably be fine with a starter model.

Bottom Line?

Nordic Track ellipticals offer good value for the money. They have a large parent company behind them - ICON Health and Fitness - so they have the money and resources to build a better elliptical for less.

You get bright, advanced consoles, longer strides and some incredible workout 'toys' you won't find elsewhere.
